hI, I have this drive a WD 400BB-00jhc0. It's a one head one platter disk. I have a bad head and looking for donor , i tried a same hard disk bought rfom ebay but i was surprised to see that the donor had the head UNDER the platter and mine has the head ON TOP of the platter. how can i fnd a right replacement???

You could try with a WD800BB; that one has two heads.

Well, you don't even have to disable it. It'll already be disabled in the ROM.

Something strange is happening . It's still clicking..usually it's a board problem from my small experience.. I thought it could be heads so i changed them used from a wd800bb but still nothing. Spin up, clicking a few times , spin down and reports ready. I can work only in kernel mode i tried combinations of head disabling but still nothing..
Any ideas??

Could be one of the following:
Poor diagnosis.
Bad swap.
Head incompatibility.

Hi again,
no clicking i was usning bad heads, now it starts normally i can work in normal mode , all service modules read ok, but a sabre id , anyone has

I tried the one from hddguru files the WD400BB-00JHC0-05.01C05-WD-WMAMA9132942 but still a sabre id

if anyone has this rom i would appreciate it if you can send it.

P.S. Original 25p10 chip is not working , i tried to read it with external programmer and it reads all ff.
