Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

I've a seagate sata hard disk. Sometimes suddenly my pc gets stuck in between and I can hear some sound coming from the hard disk. Sometimes even my comp doesn't boot and gives an operating system not found error. On tightening the wires or by just starting the comp again after 2 or 3 hours or so the comp boots. I've noticed the problem goes away for sometime if I format my hard disk or restore the PC to an earlier stage. I want to know whether it's a hardware problem(as I can hear some sound coming from it, only when the PC gets stuck) or some software problem( as formatting and restoring helps).
Thanks and regards

Ask amarbir from this forum - he's in Chandigarh. Maybe he can handle the drive and refurbish it. Any other?

The OP has formatted the drive at least twice, so data recovery is not an issue.
Let Seagate refurbish the drive.

Seagate will do it for free, after they send you a refurbished replacement under warranty.
