Hi All,
My WD5000AAVS - 00ZTB0 gave up on me Yesterday, it doesn´t even spin up, it gets warm nothing more.
Here in Sweden it will cost me up to $1500 to get it fixed. Can it be fixed cheaper?!
Is it possible to fixed a drive with these symptom for rookie?
I am working in a ISO 5, class 100, clean room, is this clean enough to open up at HDD?
Thanks you in advance!
Joakim

It could be a PCB problem, if your drive does not spin up or make any noise.

Agree.
Contact "mr_spokk" (Bosse) on the forum, he's in Sweden and should be able to sort you out.

Yes it is, but the disk should only be opened by a skilled professional. I agree with others here, it could be the PCB that is the cause of your problems.

Maybe you can find (on local ebay or similar) exactly the same model (working, may have bad blocks) and try to swap the PCB.

It's not possible to just swap the PCB. It will not work.
