Seagate 500GB (ST9500325AS) 5400rpm PCB Problem

Yesterday i plugged my HDD to a 4 pin to SATA Power Cable and the cable was burnt and the PCB was little warm. I thought the cable is burnt so i plugged it back to my laptop and it did not detect my HDD. I tried it on my PC and the drive was not powering ON. I thought it to be a fried PCB but looking at the PCB it doesn't look like a fried one. Is there any change if i can buy a PCB from the same model and put in my HDD and it works if there only the problem is PCB and if everything is alright?

What are the chances of swapping new PCB to my HDD to make it work?

If yes what other things should i look even if its from a same HDD?

example .. the firmwire etc..

Post a high quality photo of the PCB, component side up. We can start from there.

No it won't absolutely not.

You WILL need to at least transfer the ROM chip, which on these is a fiddly little bugger!

HD images please tell me if its repairable ? where is rom is there any idential board from which i don't need to replace the rom?

if i am in a market to buy new disk and how can i know that it has same ROM version? and its identical without un-screwing it.

I have many accounts in my HDD i need it soon pls somebody help me!

whats the next thing i can do? diode is blown away so if i remove it ? can i swap the diode but there is 1 c of damage in pcb too

Doomer is absolutely correct, all the PCB's on these are unique.

The ROM is the 8-leg chip top-right of the last pic, but be VERY careful indeed, these chips are very tricky to move and easily break.

Same disk model, but make sure PCB p/n is same also.

Use a digital multimeter (US$10) to measure the resistance of the 5V TVS diode (marking KE?) near the SATA power connector. Also measure the resistance between the ground and +5V pins at the connector.

You say that the "diode is blown away". What do you mean by that?

i think the diode is shorted .. i'm having another hhd board for diode but this one is IDE and the size of the diode is same its writting B2 on the top on IDE diode and XE5 OR KE5 on SATA diode (current disk)

should i just cut the diode and see if it spins?

i have done measured Resistance in my life i am ready to buy a mutimeter and measure it . but i will need a guide.

i was touching the diode and it came off very clean both the legs were secure.

i thought i should try the disk without diode and i tried and still its not powering.

I can see in the picture you posted that the diode has burnt.
So even if you just remove the diode the Hdd should start working, no need to put another one. These diodes are for protecting drives from higher voltages and surges

still circuit is not complete to power it up.. oer there is some hinderance

May be voltage is not reaching to the circuit.
check for any track breakage
