SEAGATE NAS110 data recovery???

Hello,

I have a Seagate Nas110 which somehow stopped connecting to my network. In a rush to get my data, I pulled the hard drive from the enclosure and directly connected it to my computer. Unfortunatley the drive was a GBT (?) Protected Partion or something like that. I thought that if I switched it over to a regular disk (unprotected it) I would be able to access my data... FAIL. Computer Management in Windows said I need to format it in order to read the drive when I assign a drive letter. Well I don't want to do that, I want to retrieve my data and throw this damn Seagate drive away. So I now have a hard drive with a few partions on it. Has about 4 at 97 megabytes and 1 at 9.38 gigabyte. My data is on the big partion. I tried using "Recover My Files" and it did find some files, however after I purchased the software and ran it again, it wouldn't find anything. The drive also keeps disconnecting as I monitor it in Computer Management and run "Recover My Files", so I am unable to retreive my data. I hear no funny noises from the drive so I don't think its crashing, but something is definitely not right. Anyone have any ideas how I can recover my data. I plan to go to a professional if that is what it boils down to.

So you are saying just send the drive out to professional and quit messing with it myself?

Your only DIY chance is a cloning tool (eg ddrescue) that knows how to work around bad sectors. It clones the easy sectors on the first pass, and tries for the more difficult ones on subsequent passes.

Probably windows cannot read the file system.

Recovery my files will recover for you data based on signatures, i.e all files will have no names and original folder structure lost.

If you modify partition in computer management is possible you damage filesystem start making it more difficult.

If you do not know what you are doing a professional is the best option for you. If you do want to proceed then it could be worth looking into the file system you have, maybe get a screenshot of the disk in a HEX editor and post here.

Not sure, will check. It's completed, just needed some pc3k tweaks and some time on the DDI in the end.

my 12TB is 400, i got it empty w/o drives (cheaper if you look) and added my own 3tb x 4
