Is VP-298 programmer worth something?
It cost 120USD.

Would be happy to gather your opinions.

VP or any other when you think about it only think about the following:

How many chip/ic`s does it support?

some support 10k other 200k (types/models)

they all the same for me unless you know for what purpose you wanted it for?
and the sockets as well their prices as an accessories and if you need them or not

sometimes cheap stuff will do the job, but later on you MIGHT need the Pro. one

The use is for reading and writing rom/nv-ram chips from all the hard drives vendor.
Instead of soldering out the chips to the donor pcbs.

I talked with the seller from drivestar and he said that it will be a good match for the following adaptor:

This adaptor + the programmer will save me the use of SMT station (which I also have but looking for easier work..)
