Recover data from WD2500JS

September 29th, 2012, 17:13

Hi gurus,

My WD2500JS HD died.
It spins, clicks 3 times and stops spinning (2 tries).
The device is also not detected by the BIOS.

I replaced the PCB taken one from another identical (working) HD, but it didn't work.
Here is a video:

The other HD is working fine with the PCB taken from the broken HD.
Thus, may I assume the U12 chip has a similar calibration?

Should I try replacing the U12 chip anyway (even if the disk is spinning)?

What else may I try to recover the data?

Nothing, as the problem is not the pcb.
