Hi guys,

Had a drive which didn't spin. Swapped the PCB with an idenical donor. Drive now spins but clicks.

Is there adaptive ROM on these hard drives? (IC12?)

FYI, there is a fuse (F1) near the end of the IDE connector. D1 appears to be a TVS diode.

I have a similar board, can you tell me what fuse and tvs you recommend as a substitute? Or is it easier to go for a board? Thanks.

If there is no other damage, then you can remove the diode and bridge the fuse with a blob of solder.

Otherwise ...

Littelfuse Surface Mount Fuses, N = 2A, S = 4A:

SD05-7, Diodes Inc, marking ZA, 5V, 350W, UNI-DIRECTIONAL SURFACE MOUNT TVS:
