HI,

WD Elements. With Write Protection.

According to owner explanation, the Drive suddenly disappeared during copy process. Then it can't be mounted.

Well, I have checked the HDD, it's detected normally, detected as Unallocated under device manager.
Checked by WinHex and reported it's Write Protected.

Any hints would be appreciated.

Read via USB. Victoria reports Write Protected. WinHex reports write-protected.

will replace with sata pcb today to check further.

u can replace the board with 771692 sata board
and move the rom ic
it will be fine
but forget your data

this is an known smartware encryption case

It is NOT .WD Elements don't use HW encryption. The problem is elsewhere. When topicstarter plug in drive dirrectly via SATA , all will become clear.
