Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hi,
I have a a hard drive WD3200BEVT. It was working fine in a laptop when suddenly it crashed, and the laptop restarted. Since that moment, the hard drive is not even detected by the BIOS. I tried with another HD and the BIOS detect it and works fine. So I discard any BIOS or main board problem of the laptop.
I tried also to plug it in a external hard drive box to a USB port and seems that it spins but it's not detected neither by Windows.
Is there any chance to repair it? or at least to recover the data?
I read something about the firmware of the HD could be corrupted.
Thanks for help!

The majority of times, laptop hard drives fail because of physical damage. If you value your data at all, you should have it assessed at a professional data recovery lab before further damage is caused.
