for Samsung hard drive firmware problem, can I use serial communication to access and repair firmware like Seagate hard drive?

the problem is that the drive spins then stop (without clicking sound). it spins then stop while it is in the bsy state of the imager. is it firmware problem? can i do diagnostic and repair firmware by serial communication? if yes, how and what commands to be used.
