Is there a chance you can recover it? Possibly, depending on your skill level, the tools you have access to, etc... Based on what you've said, and not said, Assuming it isn't something super simple (Bad power supply, computer not plugged in, etc), it's likely something you won't be able to do.

Is there a chance that a professional can recover your data? More than likely.

Contact a Professional. otherwise you will mess it up.

Try only connecting power not data cable. If starts, data cable is reversed or ide controller failing. If the hdd doesn't start on other pc, the disk has to be serviced.

time to send it to the pros

your more likely looking at a preamp head break down

its a common problem with maxtor hard drives
