Hi,

This is a seagate drive, and you have one short TVS diode. :)

The TVS is quite easily identified because it is a rather large black component with just 2 contacts to the PCB, and is clearly seen damaged in your picture. Many HDDs have TVS diodes, I often have Samsung HDDs with damaged TVS, but pretty much any Seagate PCB will have a suitable power diode you could use.

But without the correct tools, you may only end up making things worse!

If you post here a picture of the PCB from your 40GB Seagate PCB I can tell you if there is a component on there that can be used.

ok tvs is replaced but no power up:( any help?

The TVS has a polarity. If you put it in backwards it will fail.

Just remove it altogether and see if drive powers up. Makes sure you have a good power supply as noted.
