microSD (1GB) with a password set by a Nokia phone, how wipe?

November 2nd, 2010, 7:54

I have a microSD (1GB) with a password set by a Nokia phone, datas aren't important.
If I insert it in the Nokia phone it can be read/write and even formatted (but it still protected after this), instead if I insert it in the card reader or in other phones it isn't recognized.

There is a way to force a card reader to ignore the "status" and wipe out everything?

Or there is a special card reader that support these things?

I wasn't even aware that microSD cards could be password protected. I guess this proves just how much of a n00b I am. I suppose if you're having difficulty altering the contents of the card (without a password), you aught to call up the manufacturer or bring it to a professional. Many of them can follow a procedure/shortcut that will eliminate the password factor.

You need to insert the MicroSD card back into the Nokia phone then decrypt/remove it's password. Considering you still have the phone.

if you can update the nokia phone software and have the cables

it will reset the password to default

12345 or 00000

it works 100%.
