I have a PNY 3.0 USB flash drive with unusual symptoms, can anyone help me diagnose. One time you connect the drive is shows up as a PNY USB 3.0 FD 1100 with the LED flashing constantly (usual fast pulse for a PNY) but no sector access. Next time its connected it shows as SMI USB MEMORY BAR 1000 (which I presume is the controller signature as its a SM3267L) with a slow pulse of the LED, again no sector access. Next time it does not come live at all. The controller does not get hot. Rewired the connector as there was some damage to the anchor points from a previous bend (red herring I think). Quick test of components found a bad resistor and replaced but no difference. Client said it just stopped working rather than sustained physical damage.

Reflow the controller. Maybe there is some crack on solder connection. It sometimes happen. If not help chip-off recovery should be success.
