Many probably have already created one, but here is a tutorial if needed.

There is a problem in properly creating the .acerep files. It will contain all files and there is no way to leave outside files with bad sectors etc.
We have informed Ace about this issue.

I've been asking them for a couple years to be able to filter selection based on file recoverability, but nothing thus far.

Thanks, good to know... at times it does not look like it does what it should.

I actually went ahead and used it this time just because of a client whose drive is crappy. Tried to get them to tell us critical files, but it is imperative they have to see folder/file structure first. Likely comparing to stuff they have already backed up.

Oh well, c'est la vie.

Ala Deepspar? Think they do that right in DRE, right?

Sucks, but still better than nothing.

FAT, NTFS, HFS+ and EXT, the most common of the file structures.

I have found three ways to show clients good and bad files.

1. Generate a file report with DE as a CSV, convert to XLS, filter results based on good and damaged files. Although this works, the presentation of an XLS file sucks and is very difficult for a client to work through when they have millions of files.

2. Fully recover the data out, filtering the damaged files into a folder called 'Damaged' (default is !Problem). Then copy the good files into a folder called 'Good'. Then, use snap2html to generate a file listing showing both the good and damaged folders with a searchable file structure

3. Export the map to DDI and use DRE to generate a file report

Although DE has improved over the past few years, it seems that such feature requests are low on the developer's scale of priority.

Method 2 is too much time

for some reason Am using this Attached freeware App.
where you can send it to your client and Open the File which you already made with it.

Client selects/Deselects whatever he wants and you move on.

very easy, and Thanx to the Author.

Thanks. It sure is difficult finding any information about the program, other than by sending an e-mail to the author. Information like what are the features of the commercial version and how much does it cost, does it allow printing/exporting the file/folder list, etc. The freeware version lets you see the list of files/folders pruned by the customer, which is nice, but how does one work efficiently with that when it cannot even be printed/exported?
