 Post subject: Broken Maxtor ARES C64K

Hello Guys,

i have here an broken Maxtor Drive. It dosn't make sounds like a broken Device.

In the Bios it is recognizing as Maxtor ARES C64K.

Could somebody help me, i don't have a PC-3000 Device but i read that this is the only way to fix the Firmware? I still need the Data.

Sorry to say that you have a firmware problem, but it cannot be properly diagnosed or repaired without proper (expensive) equipment such as PC3000, Salvation or Atola.

If you're prepared to send to UK, I can almost certainly recover the data for a reasonable price. Or member "falther" is in Austria and also has the appropriate kit.

He too can resolve this problem, which unfortunately cannot be DIY'd.
