I have three of these, purchased together, still under warranty. I am trying to recover data on one of them that has developed physical problems, but a replacement is on the way, so that will make three again perhaps. The other two were removed from a working RAID set as part of an upgrade. It's all the same to me if I buy new or reuse these.
What are you thinking of for price? I would expect it to be above retail for my troubles.

Brain,
Please can you check the other working drive that you have, I need to match as much of the following information as possible.
Model: WD5000KS-00MNB0
Specifics: Date: 05 May 2006
Product of Malaysia
DCM: HBACAJAA
PCB:2060-701383-001 REV A
I'm not sure about the retail price, but I'm sure we can work something out if I can use your drive to recover my data.
Thanks in advance for your help.

The model and PCB are a match. The DCM is different; I don't know what that means.
The other working drive is busy on data recovery right now, but will hopefully be spared soon. I expect a replacement for the faulty drive to arrive Wednesday, then I can post information about it at the same time.
Please understand that I need to come out of this with matching drives for a new RAID set, so I have to buy new replacements if I give these up. Two sold at $150 would make my day.
BTW the two good drives were nicely cooled in an Antec case; the failed one was in an external case without a fan. Is it always heat that does it these days?

$150 for the 2 drives is fine. Please let me have the information for the other drive. I will need to confirm with the data recovery company with regard to suitability.
Thanks again for your help.

I cannot replace these for $150. I meant $150 each, $300 total. I hope that's not a shock. I will post data when I can get at it.

I am happy to pay that...but would need an exact match of the above specification. Lets review the spec of the second drive.
thanks.

I have received the replacement for the bad drive, but it is a new WD5000AAKS, manufactured 12 April 2008. How could it get here from Thailand so fast? They must set them up and date them in CA.
So I have only two WD5000KS. Picture of the second label attached, others in my first post.

If these are satisfactory, then please advise how you would like to do this transaction. I have eBay and PayPal accounts. I could put them on eBay, or whatever you like. I am in Buffalo, NY.

One of my returns got me a recertified drive as follows:
Model: WD5000KS-00MNB0
Specifics: Date: 03 May 2008
Product of Malaysia
DCM: HCACAJAA
PCB: 2060-701383-001 REV A
That differs by only one letter in the DCM, plus the recert date, of course.

WWN: 50014EE05558DFAF
It's still sealed from WD direct.

Hi.
I'm looking for a PCB as picture above. I'll be happy to purchase the entire drive. Do you still have any?
Thanks

I have the sealed recertified drive just mentioned, plus another that I intend to send back to WD for a warranty replacement. I suggest you probably want the recertified drive, still sealed from the manufacturer, but it's all the same to me. I have attached images of each.
