Its a WD1600AAJS-75M0A0
I cant get these MODs to read.
HD DR FOR WD keeps giving me errors when trying to back these up:

0043 Surface Adaptive Parameter
0004 Configuration Mod

Is there a way to use a Donor's 43 mod? Can the Mod be made or the donors 43 mod altered to work with the patient?

Hot swap?

I' would appreciate any help.

What is original problem with HDD? What do you see in sector view?

hi
you can try to read primary end secondary (or try to read tracks and find it there) and check if the read errors are on different parts and see if you can rebuild the original.

Poehere: It doesn't give access to data.. I get 66666666 in Sector view.

IRS: Both Pri and SEC are no good.
I think I read the tracks.. not sure.. do I have to file carve them out, then up load as Mods?

I imagine the tracks wont get read thoroughly.. in the areas where the MOD43 and 0004 exist..

hi,
if you can read the tracks and find the header of mod 43 you can split the mod file (checking the lenght) and use it as a 43 mod file ;)

thanks for the tip! I just wonder if what i carve out works, and not just fragments..
or a corrupt mod.
I got a donor, but I don't know if 43 is interchangeable..
I'll let you know.

normally mods are not fragmented within the track.
mod 43 is unique so you can't use a donor, but you can check where was not read and compare with a donor to see if you can rebuild it.

Looking at the donor as an example:

The header of Mod 43 can be found in Track 84 and 169.
The strange thing is the contents of M43 don't match The sections that M43 occupies in Track 84/169.

Doesn't look like I can carve anything out to use. Any ideas?

i think that you didn't find the right mod in the track ...
52 4F 59 4C 01 00 30 00 43 00 7D 00 24 6B E3 DE 30 30 30 31 30 30 this is the right header of module 43
looks like you searched for ROYL string + "00010000" :wink:
in this case you don't have to bother with firm/rom version as is from the patient itself

I found 0043 inside Track 82... (I used a better search tool this time).
looks like a good Carve.. Now I'm debating if I should deflect it to keep the old.. or just over-write


The only problem is "0004" I can't find it in any Tracks when I search for the whole string:

I can find multiple instances of "20000" but nothing more distinct than that.

I think 0004 is critical, no?
I take it the donor's "0004.mod" wont work.

Any suggestions?

i have another question, but if on that track the module is ok why not to try to rewrite the whole track and check again?
