I just purchased Acronis EasyMigrate and found an error on my HD. No lost data, just an error that I can't clean up. After a chkdsc, it says clean...but still shows error message from O&O defrag and Easymigrate.
It's a Samsung 80g Sata. The error's are c:$MFT

Did some checking on the Web seems this program is bad news. Are you wanting to clone your drive so that you can install a larger drive into your computer. There is a lot better software out there on the market than this one. Here is what people say about the software you are using. Found on the Web

Ugh. Acronis's software sucks really bad. Reinstalling the OS and manually migrating the files is less painful (trust me, I have used Acronis in the past).

me too i used Acronis before and had bad memories about it.. my whole files poof...


There are a lot more out there but this should give you a clue to find something better to you. Plus there is a site only for this software maybe you should join that forum and get the answers you are looking for.

Thanks,,,I've used Acronis numerous times the past with no problem "but never had an error on the HD".
I have just gotten Norton Ghost from a friend,,,but now, not working either.

Try this one sounds like your hard drive has some really bad areas inside and you should change out. If you want a clone of your drive you might get what you want from this

Hi. If your drive is not failing and if you don't have access to professional cloning utilities then I would suggest you try a free programme called Unstopable Copier by Roadkill.
If it is a bootable drive you might have to carry out a repar after copying the data to make it bootable again. There are various ways to do this.

Then there are other freebies by Roadkill which I have never used before but must be worth a try.

So plenty to try for free but only use these utilities if your drive is in reasonable condition.

errors in the Master File Table bitmap ($MFT), you need to fix this first.

Yes of course,,trying to do that now with the Powersuite program ??? Don't think it'll work. But a nice prog for cleanup etc. Will try the cloning shortly with Powersuite.

If that program can not fix it, you will probably need to fix it with other program or manually editing its content.,
