Buy usb stick/pen drive with physical write protection slider if you still can find them for sale.

Several of my twinmos pen drives have a little plastic slider that will disconect physicaly the write channel to the memory chip and when you write protect it the os will not be able to write on it.

This is way better then write protecting with software or a driver as the write protection by software can be bypassed.

Use CUSTOM MADE FLASH - with CD partition (for example)

OR

buy expensive customized flash (HW) + SW which comes with it and do what u needed to program it to do (i think german made)

You can find the tools at places like flashboot.ru to modify drives firmware - but be warned - it isn't easy, you will probably kill a few drives.

BTW a simple Google and stuff like this is found.:

http://www.kanguru.com/storage-accessories/kanguru-ss3.shtml

Another easy way is get a USB-SD Card adapter and use SD Cards with a write Protect switch. You can get ones in the shape that closely resembles a flash drive, so not much different. SD Cards are easier to store too.

There is a registry hack also that you can use. Write a small .reg file to enable, and another one to disable, then you can run it, use your drive, then run it after you have finished to re-enable writing to USB.

that is nice way
but i need that operation made automatically
to be faster more than any file copy to himself to usb
and maybe i forget to reback write mode
forthat wn plug usb that no write mode work then wn unplug re back to normal mode
any thing like .bat file to do that

ANY stupid anti-virus will block that? sometimes windows itself,
better go for either option1 or 2,

good luck

Option 3 is to buy any cheap flash drive, locate the controller's Write Protect pin, and then add your own switch. If you intend to use your flash drive as a permanent read-only archive, then you could solder a permanent link to ground.

See the following Silicon Motion reference circuits:

download/file.php?id=8221&mode=view (SM3257EN_application_circuit.jpg)
download/file.php?id=8220&mode=view (SM3255QF_application_circuit.jpg)

The nWPRO pin is the one you would need to hack.

Diskpart

List disk

"than select your disk" > sel disk 1

"list partitions" list part

"select partition" sel part 1
type > att vol set readonly

to remove att vol clear readonly

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/For ... progeneral

No, The Active directory domains I manage have this reg hack sent out Via group Policy, and there is McAfee AV in service.
