 Post subject: Help if possible...

Hi, i was wondering if any one could help, i have a seagate Barracuda ata iv model ST340016a
serial - 3hs6lwmy
part no - 9t6002-132
firmware 3.75
site code - AMK

the pcb is burnt out and i wanted to do a swap, i found a drive with the same part number same firmware, same site code but when fitted to the drive it just clicks is there any thing i can do to stop this co configure the board to work ?

It seems like whatever blew the PCB also blew the preamp inside the drive. DIY had gone as far as it will on this case. I can help in UK, but not for free! :wink:

I don't know about the "two resistors", but the 2P102 IC appears to be part of the negative regulator for the preamp inside the HDA.

FDFS2P102A Integrated P-Channel PowerTrench® MOSFET and Schottky Diode, Fairchild, 20V, 3.3A:

ISTM that expensive professional data recovery may be your only option. :-(

For absolute confirmation, you should use your multimeter to test for shorts at the preamp connector. Locate the preamp pin(s) that connect to pins 1 and 2 of the IC. That will be your negative supply rail. Then measure the resistance between this pin and ground.
