(Ok, before the warnings start. I know there are alot of people on this forum
who predict plagues of locust, earthquakes and spontaneous combustion of drives!
if HDD regenerator is used .i.e there are some detractors of this product.....But, I've used HDD regenerator 5 times and in 2 of those cases HDD regenerator was very successful.)

Now, my question is - does Hdd regenerator have to be used on the actual drive with bad sectors OR can it be used on an sucessfully imaged drive?

Well ,
In Data Recovery Its Better To Clone The "Patient" To a "Donor Akka non Patient" Drive First And then Extract the Data From The "Non Patients " .This Is Done With Good Cloning Software/Hardware .Once You Have the Job At Hand finished then You Can Try All Stunts On the "Patient" Drive .Like Hammering It ,Putting It In Water ,In The Fridge,Making a Pet elephant Sit On It " I Read This On HDD GURU  " Oh I forgot Using HDD Regenerator .

PS : My Answer end After "Patient" Drive . Rest All Is Aftereffects Of Doing Too Much DR Lately .

ok but, so using something like HDD on the cloned drive will get the same result as on the "patient drive"?

It can be used : a useful feature is a "involuntary built-in acoustic alarm" : when the drive clicks furiously, process is complete .
Maybe you can intend it for drive sorting : it HAD to die. Call it selection.
