My Atola recognizes the drive but shows the ending LBA as sector 0. It looks like a possible firmware corruption to me. Would you not agree?

Perhaps, but having a rip of the FW wouldn't really help with that...

What do you plan to do with firmware anyway once you recieve it?

Im sure if you own Atola you are a data recovery provider? Surely you would be aware of this problem. If not, maybe you should consider a partner program with an established DR firm near you.
