well i fried my PCB board and wondering if any1 had the board i need

the white label is as follow:

BUT on the green circuit board there is this imprint

Try to post the hdd model and a picture of your fried PCB. Maybe it's a TVS problem then we can help you DIY.

this is what fried, I was wondering and pardon my lack of skills, but listen and tell me if it might work or if im way off and u have a suggestion.

The chip thats fried, (i dont know if the smaller one next to it is fried as well) but anyways, if i attach small leads from each ends of the chip and attach them to another PCB chip that is still good and connect my old PCB board to my hard drive with the leads attached and on the other PCB, in theory when my pcb loads will it access the chip on the good pcb and *fingers crossed* be able to load up my hard drive

Hi, that chip is the TSV...desolder it and hopefully you have enough time to copy your data to a safer drive.

As far as I can see R64 is gone too.So you need a little bit more soldering skills to replace it.Of course there can be more damage on PCB or inside hdd as well.Be very carefull if you want the data back.

i have attempted to replace the pcb with another and the drive loads up and is shown as a generic on my computer but is not recognized, so i don't think the hdd is damaged, it spins up and stays on but secondary to the fact that the pcb doesnt have the right ROM info it wont recognize it. Can I do what mr_spokk suggested

and just take solder the TSV and try it that way. Also how about if i take the TSV out and solder the connections with wires to another TSV on another PCB, any concerns with that. Thanks guys

You cannot just change the PCB. You will need to transfer the ROM from the original PCB, either by reading it directly from the CPU (which I doubt is possible at the moment) or rebuild it from the drive's SA. Either way, you will need the help of a data recovery professional or very expensive data recovery equipment.

i plan on using my original pcb but i was wondering if because what seems to be burned is the TVS (TSV) chip, i was wondering if i run leads from my original pcb with the leads coming off the burned pins of where the original burned chip was and connect those leads to another TVS(TSV) on another PCB but still have my original pcb board on my hdd and just using the other pcb just for the sole purpose of running my board to the good chip with wires, will that work, here is a diagram

try to repair D4 and R64 perhaps may help for you. check D3 & R67 also. and i can help you program original firmware to good PCB if you need help. please contact me by email or MSN.

update:

all went well guys, thank you very much, i popped the D4 out and plugged it in and all was well. R64 was running good as i check the ohms on it and it was good. My question now is, how important was that D4, and can i use my drive like before or was this just a short window opportunity and the drive wont last without the diode.

You should replace the burned (D4&R64) to be in the safe side.

For continued protection, you can replace the 12V TVS diode with an SMBJ12A from Farnell, Mouser, Digikey.
