Heya all. Got the drive that wont spin up. Trying to do a simple ROM copy in PC3k yet i cant. Always comes back with error in chksum. Found a working SATA drive , a Poseidon as well , and as a test tried to get the ROM while PCB only is connected (safe mode ) - failed as well at checksum. Copying in normal mode with PCB attached - got the ROM no problem. So my question is , how does one get the ROM on those drives in safe mode ? Am i missing something ? Ty.

Hi,
Set three jumpers (Master, Slave, CS), like in WDC HDDs
PS You must set the Cable Select jumper on the PC-3k PCI board (for UDMA enable Cable Select in the utility)

Ty sir. Will give it a shot now.

erm if i set the 3 jumpers then how will i connect terminal. I thought rom read was through terminal only.

Edit Did what u said. Entered safe mode via jumpers , set cable select , cycled power , removed the jumpers leaving master only and set terminal in. Entered debug mode and got the rom. Ty again.

Hello All!

Anyone knows the pin-out for Serial port connection to this drive?
Need a "Service Mode" erase and can't do it without entering serial (already did this on Seagate as there are lots of posts about their PATA and SATA serial port pin-outs but none for Samsung).

PM please in case of such knowledge.

Have a good day!
