Now this thread is made as an attempt to kill the lack of information available about the hard drive password if I offend any of the guru's here on this board please forgive me.

What the object is to stop the markups on what should be free information it is crazy PC-3000 I just contacted them and they told me I would have to pay close to 9000.00 USD to purchase there software????

This is outrageous I feel like they called me a idiot right to my face with such a quote a couple hundred I could see but 9k get bent aholes!

So onwards and upwards time to attempt to reveal to people they don't need the fancy hardware...

First thing to realize is the hardware is only there to stop piracy of there software that is it nothing more! And that is quoted from one of the gurus so technically what you pay for is software realize this first.

Who do you think writes this software? Or are automated and specific repair commands freely available on google? I seriously doubt this....

And as for using Hardware simply to stop piracy, I am sure you are right because Microsoft obvously included specific ATA commands and power control features within the Windows OS....

Regarding PC3000, you are not simply paying for software. You are paying for the years and years of research and developments in data recovery which have al been compiled into a software package for convenience.

And this alone is not enough to be a competent DR firm.

You have a bad attitude, and before you criticise the industry, try being a part of it. Believe me, it is not easy and hard work is 100% nessecary.

I believe you will figure out pretty quickly when working on this project why the hardware/software costs what it does.

Best of luck, though. I certainly wouldn't complain about a free ATA password removal tool.

Dont wanna pay 9k for PC-3000 go buy some module from Salvation Data- only a few hundred dollars each. don't know if it will actually unlock anything- but they claim it does and they sell that stuff pretty well.
Any way- some recovery centres offer promotions on unlocking drive for £10 :)
But as advised pc-3000 is way better programmed and more stable than salvation data - theyre consultants speak English even AFTER you bought the product. But both companies do something similar to each other just differently.
But I am curious what you will come up with.
Gosh - i remember the days of free information on the net.
