Yea thats true- but taken out of context you should have put they they most probably mis understood me because their tech guys first language is chinese and hardly speak english. So i dont bother with them- even on the forums they dont understand.

I admit- it was the first recovery i did. and it kinda put me off the whole idea- but i fixed the next and then the next one and the one after that. then i made a deal with a few ppl and fixed a few more

Now i only try to break my own hard drives just to learn something.

Any way- you presented the fact- my website was not listed in the google search- and yet im expanding my workshop soon. Just imagine i top up my adwords, tune my bid to £4 and sponsor a link. Hmmm. I wont because i cant handle all the other 'physical' damaged stuff yet.
I come across as a cocky son of a b. - and i most probaly am. Take a laugh at my website - i dont care im getting clients and im keeping your secrets tight with me. The only real problem started once i started outsourcing to other companies. Outsourcing sounds good- but it would be better to admit i cant do physical repairs than hanld eupset clients because soembody else takes a piss at their work an has no pride in what they do.
Most of outsourced clients are uspet with me. All my direct clients will give good feedback

PS Google is not the only the only search engine in the world

So you tell your clients you can't handle physical repairs? Why not outsource? just outsource to the right people.

4 months in - cant tell from right and wrong people? So far its half and half
but i guess thats the business i chose to be in - no real guarantess

I just got a HDD from somebody who gave it to PCWorld- them schamks took off the pcd- broke the spindles connector and cable and told him the data cant be recovered. But the drive was detecting in Bios before he sent it to them. Those are the people that need to be stopped, and i hear the same thing over and over about pcworld. Now i have to very carefull and try to see if they broke anything else. and its a 7 year old hdd. no spares.

What do you do HDDSPaz?You in DR, techie? or just retired and like chatting to ppl.

Out of curiosity I also decided to google data recovery cheshire and the first hit was PC Input which kind of explains why the Gurus round here get a bit annoyed with these type of threads.........a normal street with a semi detached house so there you go.

There are always going to be some cases that you find too difficult to handle, in this case you do not need to outsource but direct the client to someone you know can do the job. Surely the best thing is that client gets the data back?

And as for clients being unhappy, did you tell them you were outsourcing? Did you outsource them to someone who could actually do the job, or instead drop it off to the semi-detached house around the corner from you

Seriously though, if you are a genuine DR firm then most of your work will be physical so if you cant deal with it then either dont accept it or find a reputable company to outsource to. there are so many idiots setting up shop claiming they can offer data recovery, but in actual fact they only able to recover deleted data and damaged partitions, leaving all the rest filter through to those that actually are equipped to do those jobs. And most of those have been tinkered with by someone who 'wants to learn'!

I must have sent one of the such a place- but never again. just filtering out the people. I have made a nice friend of this forum- he knows what hes doing and helped me out many times now.

And i did ofcourse let the client now where his precious data is. And they agreed to get reffered.Still had dissapointment with me though. butyou cant satisy everyone.

Well i am gutted i cant do physical repairs. im missing years of experience and its really depressing me. but where do you learn. nobody teaches these things- years of tinkering idiots turn out to become hdd gurus. unless you are born hddguru then apologies

PC Input from the pic is in fact "Data Chavs" the well known gold chain blinged up pro's.

They collect direct from your house (when your not home) recover your data to an Albanian gang and leave your house with open air windows

To finish this thread for myself. I do not own a data recovery company , I just work for one kinda . Even after a decade+ of experience (circa 23,192 hours working on hard disks so far) I don't fancy going it alone.

If your young, no kids, no mortgage and no wife then give it a go :O) good luck

Well guys, it seems we'll need to open a forum for hddnewbies
Like you guys, i'm looking for tips on data recovery but it's difficult to get some help from gurus (must say, not all of them)
It's been 6 months that i'm reading a lot and testing, but i'm still a green for sure.

I must say that I understand the gurus. If I owned my data recovery company and knew that one of the fellas in my neighborhood is likely to start his own data recovery company, I won't be available to help him for sure. That is competition.
But why don't help people in other country when the competition doesn't exist? I know they probably worked hard to gain the knowledge, but I'm willing to buy this knowledge to gain some time, if someone is interested in giving some knowledge, pls PM me.

I think the best for newbies is to pulled together and exchange what we know (links, tips, secret). That way, we'll learn faster than alone. What ya think?
