Hi

I find data recovery and hdd repair quite interesting, I see a clean room plays a big role in data recovery. What I would like to know is can you use a vertical clean bench as an alternative to clean room? Or do the two go hand in hand? :D

Kind regards

Yea its good. but if you dont know how to transfer a platter or do a head swap then even a $50k clean room wont help.
Best to use those clean benches in a room that already has filtered air to minimise containments. not necessarliy a clean room bot a closed room with some other hepa filters an ionisers.

ps dont forget gloves, mouth mask and some nice antistatic clothing ;)

the reason why company say clean rooms are needed
they can charge there clients more money.

i know some clients that have paid up to $500 for them to recovery there data using a clean room
plus the recovery on top of it

make your own clean room device clean bench and dont let the air blow throu
you can buy a filtered unit to stop any dust getting into the drive.

Hey yea, thats a nice kit there.realy nice, i have been looking for one like that.Do you know a price? :)
but look at what crag6928 said. It is possible to build a box like that at a fraction of the price. And you can get 3 stage filters that filter a 15m2 per hour for something stupid like £20. It does need strong DIY skills though because that of the way the air needs to processed. That box you linked to uses double cycle air filtration and compression.

--
1 cycle (hepa+ioniser) cleaning process where it ionises the intake and pressurises the air
*in between i suspect there is like a inverted tube or spiral where the ionised air passes and all the ionised particles get refiltered or wasted
2 HEPA to remove another 99.9% of particles from the already 99.9% filtered air and some sort of sponge to distribute the air in a uniform and calm way downwards and out- preventing particles from entering where you put your hands.

----
But you dont need to build a double cycle like this.
More ideal would be to build a larger closed box like comparment with sealed gloves. build it in such a way that the air inside recylces at 15-20 times per hour. Then we are talking about some pretty darn clean air even if small containments are introduced via device or anything else. You would need positive pressure here to just in case there are leaks. but its not critical.

I am planning to do a project like this next year and test it out. I shall be posting tutorials and outcomes of how good it is. Many people think im stupid- but i just like exploring.

That looks like it needs to be inside a clean room already- the previous link showed them using it inside an office and boasted the 0 rating on the laser counter.

Check this demo of HDDSync on youtube, I find the machine quite bulky. Looks like you need a clean room for this type of setup, clean bench will not work.
