Hi there

A problem with this disk.

The disk is not detected, not even by doctor, but it says Ready.
I got a donor PCB and changed the ROM. If I try to read the ROM, I get F3M108.

When trying to load from HDD on the bottom I get ERROR. No operations can be made in the Firmware options.
Read SA MAP, get error too.

Is this Heads? Or....

Thanks

Listen very carefully when you power up the drive.

Do you actually hear the heads come off the ramp and try to load FW, or does it just spinup but the heads stay put?

Compare it to a good drives' noise.

I don't hear any strange noise... That's odd...
It seems to spin up OK.... No BZZZZ ou tick-tick's....

Not even at first, with the original PCB.

The client said that it had an USB power surge, but nothing seems to be toasted...

If you're experienced you should change heads. If that doesn't work then most likely SA is damaged and that's a brick wall.
