Hi

Today I received this DVD player that can record to HD as well, to recover the films that are inside.

It has a Seagate 160GB, wich is well detected on the PC and tested with the doctor (it's fine).

Tried to recover with R-Studio, but no luck. No kind of partition, nothing.
R-Studio can say that I have 7TB (yeah TB)....But no files found.

Any ideas??

Thanks

Just tried R-Studio and Ontrack Easy Recovery.

The DVD is a Philips. Don't now the model now...

This recorder is used on a Hospital and there are videos of surgeries inside.

Tomorrow I'll try UFS Explorer.

Can it be encrypted?

Are you sure it is not ATA locked? These new recorders can use some sort of locking mechanism to stop pirating. But with past experiences with Philips.. they like to make their own systems. Use Doctor and view the first sectors of the hard drive and see what is there? Maybe there is a hint in there.

Alot of DVR boxes use "odd" file systems that can't be detected by most DR software.

Just FYI, here is an analysis of a TFS2 (?) file system:
http://jeroent.com/salora/?cat=4
http://jeroent.com/salora/?cat=6

It is used in a Tevion TDR250HD recorder built around a "DMN-8652 LSI Logic Dimension 8652 HDD/DVD Recorder Processor".

This file system fills the disc starting from the uppermost LBA and working downwards toward LBA 0.

If you make an image of the drive you should be able to extract all the files with file carving. Each video is split into many small mpg files that are also encoded in some format. You will have to join all the relevant files and decode them.

UFS Explorer could found some Mpeg Files.

Let's see if it's that what I want.

Thanks
