So, I'm trying to recover some lost files. I put it on Data recovery 3. Everything went fine until the power in my house went out, stopping the entire process. NOW when I try to run the process, it just stalls at 33,3%, with no indication of how much time left...

Any help?

What are you using to recover?
Maybe bad blocks developed on the drive, and your software can't pass them.

How do I mend this?
Strangest thing, the demo version claims it can't find any files, while the full version just skips immedialty to 33,3% then freezes there. Dont understand, it was all fine until the power shortage.
It also calls it Bus: USB, is that a bad sign?

Sorry.

Here's the (sad) lowdown:

I tried Data Rescue 3. First it found the disk, then it analyzed it with good results. THEN a power shortage, and now it cant even analyze it.
Today I tried DiskWarrior which doesn't even FIND the disk, which is strange since it DOES appear in DiscUtility...

I'm sorry to hear that the drive is no longer recognized in the computer... This sounded a really cheap recovery work at first but now, it may cost a lot of money!!!

Not to be mean, but this is the result of DIY. Professionals have CLEAN POWER at their lab with expensive tools to avoid such failure.

More over, professionals use special tools to avoid such stuck.

If your data is important, you might want to take it to your local data recovery specialist or there are a few reputable guys on here from your area!!! Check with them!!!!

If the disk isn't found, how can your recover the files!?!?

Is it recognized in BIOS or not?

After being recognized, and if no noises, try R-studio to see what you can retrieve.

As I say, it is recognized in DiscUtility (I use mac, so no "BIOS")

What is R-Studio?

Download SMART Utility - http://www.volitans-software.com/smart_utility.php
Install it and provide list of attributes from the drive you are trying to recover
Here is an example

It will tell your drive conditions

SmartUtility doesn't seem to find it either. Which is weird, since it STILL appears in DiscUtility. Can I somehow try to locate the disk manually in SmartUtility?
