Hello Hdd Gurus... Need some help... :shuffle: I am going thru a hard situation, I am in the need to try to find a way to recover some data from a SCSI drive.... label reads "36.4gb 15000rpm wide ultra320 scsi"

long story short:
seems the server (proliant i think) broke and they have no access to any other hardware capable of accessing this type of media, so they came in requiring me to figure out a way to recover such data... i thought maybe an adaptor might do the work, but i do not know if there's such a thing... (SCSI to USB? SATA? IDE? other-SCSI-then-something?) and i havent thought of any other solution yet... :?

as i have been told the disk drive is not broken, they just cant access it.

Any other idea, or info is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

peace.

Get a SCSI card and connect it that way...

Adaptec makes a slew of them that will do the job for 50 pin, 68 pin, and you might need an adapter for an SCA 80 pin connection.

just Google search SCSI adapters if that is the case.

Since it says Wide. I am guessing it looks something like this http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/uK ... vbUKqLNh1Q

You might also want to add http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCSI to your reading list...

No offense but if it that important you should outsource to someone who knows how to attach a SCSI drive

that is a SCA connection 80 pin.

you will need and adapter for the scsi card to support that. you can find 68-pin to SCA adapters from a bunch of places.

http://discountechnology.com/80pin-to-6 ... 895#photos

looks like that.

but if you are unsure on how to do it, i agree with DRC to get someone else to do it that has experience with SCSI drives. You do not want to take any chances that you do something wrong and the data becomes unrecoverable.
