Hello

I have this burned PCB. The HDD was on a USB box.

It's a Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS. About the TVS's they can be removed right? But on the corner of the PCB, is there something missing? It's so toasted, that I don't know eheheheh

A hint??

Thanks

U need a new PCB here , not fixing the old one IMO. Google onePCBsolution, easiest way to buy a donor PCB and pay em extra 10$ for eeprom to be moved.

I have seen this problem several times at Seagate's forums.

Here is a typical closeup of the damage:

This is how a good board should appear:

Just clean up the charred area with a toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol (tape head cleaner). Then replace each inductor with a wire link. Also remove the 12V TVS diode, as it will probably be shorted. For continued overvoltage protection it can be replaced with an SMBJ12A.

Hopefully there is no additional damage.
