I have a ST31000528AS that does not show up in BIOS.
Drive comes ready but shows LBA capacity 0.

According to several professional members of this forum, the 7200.12 drives respond to the same DIY fix as 7200.11 models.

Please don't attempt to try the same fix on a 7200.12 drive!
As I understand it will leave the drive in error condition.
The symptoms are the same but the fix is different???

the commands are the same, but the application of the commands on different platforms can have different results, some not so good results.

Also, another thing that should be considered is an additional fault in the translator that renders the disk partially accessible only. This has become a big problem recently, and a lot of this problem develops from DIY repairs. Not to say that the commands were wrong, but maybe just not implemented correctly. If this problem occurs, is very complicated and lengthy to repair from.

If DIY is the only way, then data cannot hold data of great importance, and for this reason you can try it - you may get lucky, but if could also go the other way.

And also in the thread you mention I see only one member saying they are the same, so is more of an opinion than a fact.

Thank you very much for all your comments.

I used the terminal command:
F3 T> m0,2,2,0,0,0,0,22 Enter

After switching off and on, the drive showed again its original 1 953 525 168 LBA.

Now I am imaging the drive and all files are back.
