This is my friends hard drive, he was moving and said when he arrived at his house somehow this happened during the moving process.

If we replace PCB with identical, assuming there is no other damage and it was only the molex connection will data be recoverable? I'm not very good at soldering if its necessary but I have a friend who is decent at it.

It will be much easier to replace the molex!

Sorry to sound like a noob, just when it comes to the mechanics/specifics of hard drives I falter in knowledge a bit

yeah easier to replace the molex, if you have a board that is identical, see how hard it is to remove the whole connector, i did that to a Hitachi DeskStar but those were surface mounted connectors not the through pcb type

The easiest way I find to solve this kind of problem is to get one of those PATA-SATA power adaptor cables and snip off the male molex end, then solder the wires to the PCB. Then you can just plug in your power cable.

Make sure you get the connections right, or you will get a small firework display
