 Post subject: IBM DTTA-351010 Power Issue

Dear guys,

i got this 10gb hdd which has some power problem, not spinning at all - completely dead

as i tested TVS as shown on attach. image which seems ok 5v & 12v

well, is there any other issue which i need to look for here?

Take a look at the "motor-driver" chip (top left) , it is common problem for this PCB.

Those four components are (C)apacitors. Their circuit references are Cxx.

In any case it doesn't make any sense to have two TVS diodes connected in parallel, as is the case with the two "DS6R" parts.

The values of C475 and C225 are probably 4.7uF (= 47 x 10^5 pF) and 2.2uF, respectively.

There appears to be a 2.3A fuse (F1) above the DS6R capacitors.

There also appears to be a linear voltage regulator (VR1) above the jumper block.

am working on it now, and hope i can find something.

will do more tests for this.
