I'm planning recovery data from a portable Samsung HDD-Disk ,(HX-MU064DA/G4), It seems a logical issue (on board connectivity or a damaged integrated circuit issue).

So I'm thinking on buying another one exactly the same model, and disassemble in two parts ( mechanical and electronical ) , and connect my mechanical disk ( with all data) on the new board .

I'm looking for the same model on online shops, and I'm seeing HX-MU064DA/GXX ( G42, G52, G62, G72) different models.


¿Can anyone say-me about internal diferences for these models ?
¿ do you know about difficults on this recovery plan ?

Depending on what is inside the enclosure, it may be possible to connect the bare drive directly to your computer's motherboard.

What is the failure symptom?

No , you have not understand my proposed solution.

I will disassembly external disc in 2 parts ( main disc box and the printed circuit board ) as you can see in the following image ( http://www.storagereview.com/images/sea ... artjpg.jpg ).

I'm doing reference on the inside "printed circuit board" as you can see in the next image (http://www.storagereview.com/images/sea ... artjpg.jpg)

A straight board swap will not work. Each board has unique, drive specific information that needs to be transferred to the donor PCB. If you upload a detailed photo of the component side of the PCB, someone will identify the chip for you.

That said, a "logical issue" would suggest a software or file system problem. Can you be more specific?

It not a logical issue (not yet) no electrical power suply is reaching the motor. So I can not read anything.

This is beacouse of I woult like switch to another PCB. ( from a currenly running disk with exactly the same model , size, weight, geometry )

I dont understant what king of specific infomation has every board ,¿ is not made in the same production line ? ¿ Is not exactly the same disk , heigth,size,geometry ?

If existing this "unique" data/infomation for every drive:

¿ where is stored on the PCB this information ? ¿ In a flash ROM ?
¿ in case of a flasheable ROM , can I copy data from damaged PCB to the new woking PCB ?

I have access to the disk by swap de PCB from the other new disk (exactly the same . Now I'm doing a copy...

I have saved 650 € / 800 € that some data recovery enterprises intend to ask me for doing this work.

So let me get this straight. You swapped the boards around and recovered your data. What was with all the other posts? Seems pretty straight forward. From my experiences, Samsungs aren't nearly as keen on adaptives as other brands so I'm not surprised it worked since you matched them up virtually identical.

You just made it out to be like you just created a time machine or something
