Hello all,

Has anyone seen locking of the command console (ie. can't get to F3 T>) on the new Barracuda XT disks? I've got one in, which was bought only 1-2 months ago. The fault iappears the same as ES.2 series of disk: disk busy, consloe locked. PCB ready when detached, still cannot get to F.

I've tried shorting the read channel but no luck. The physical location on the PCB to do this is in a somewhat different place to the ES.2 drives, with the two points quite a bit further away from the central MCU. I can post pictures of required.

Any others with a similar experience on this disk?

Disk model:
Barracuda XT
ST31000521AS
9GV154-568
CCA3

Unknown: the owner claims this has just happened from one day to the next. It's from an external unit, and consequently I suspect it has taken some physical shock.

Most likely.

Info on getting access to those models is not available yet, even to most data recovery pro's.
