What is the manufacturer and part number for a cable that will attach to the 4 pin (2mm) of Seagate SATA drives such as the 7200.11 series - this is the RX/TX pins? Needed because I'd like to build a decent platform for rescuing these drives for the firmware issue that some of them have.

The problem is the Seagate BSY problem. But I'm not looking how to solve that - just want to buy several high quality cables that plug into the drive (don't want to worry with loose connections, shorts, etc.).

Thanks for the suggestion. It's USB which typically means a driver install - but I've got lots of test systems.

Still would like either a connector number or pigtail assembly for the drive.

At a local connector house I got a JST 02NR-E2R9(LF) connector - has 2 pins. With lots of filing of the body plastic I was able to get this to fit nicely over the pins on the jumper block (Tx and Rx). Punched down wires that I stripped out of a spool of bulk CAT cable. Used my SIIG adapter 12V/5V as the power source for both the drive and the RS232-TTL converter so didn't need to use the grd on the jumper block. Combined a couple of internet posts together and got the drive to work again. Obviously, one of the first things I did was do the HP26 (sp40966) drive firmware update.

Seagate answered my reply for a part number for a connector or cable for the jumper block by telling me that they sold the drive to HP - so I should contact them. Customer service???

Connector house thought the 4-pin connector was likely an Amphenol part - but even with lots of catalogs they couldn't find it. They thought it might be a Seagate only part.
