I have the following HDD(still in warranty) which i updated the latest firmware and now i cant detect the HDD in any PC or notebook, the manufactured had given me the authorization to do 3rd party or self-recovery, can i just separate the PCB board from the drive and tried to connect it with SATA cable in desktop or external casing. i believed the firmware "kill" my PCB board.

any comments? advice?

Yes you can, but what you gonna do after that?
You should consider that drive has hardware encryption.

hi,

thanks. hardware encryption? does this mean i have to get the PCB board replaced in order to read the data inside? can i just plug the drive to an external casing, or any SATA available in desktop?

Your drive has only a micro-usb connection, no?

Hi,

thanks

currently the drive is attached to a PCB board which have a WD special Micro USB connect, not a standar micro USB connection.

Im not sure if i separate the drive with the PCB board, does the drive itself have the SATA connector or not, if yes, i can connect to my desktop SATA cable.

No your board even if you remove the PCB will not have a SATA connector as you say it might have. It s a USB PCB and that is all there is. You have to have a USB cable to do this one. Like "drc" said take some photos and post them. But your drive has an encryption on it and you need this to read your data from it.
