Can you describe the failure symptom?

It was being disconnected and reconnected from the pc randomly then when i pulled out the data cable it was smell of smoke plug back in and then it wouldnt read at all but still spin.

I can't understand why pulling out the data cable would cause the drive to smoke. It's quite possible that one or more signals on the IDE interface would have been damaged, though. I assume that you've switched IDE ports, just in case the motherboard was damaged as well as, or instead of, the drive.
