So my secondary 120gb ATA Barracuda V stopped working after doing a reinstall. The drive failed to be seen even during post.I pulled the drive and found that it was not spinning up...nothing.I took a meter and found no power was going to the motor. So I found a PCB that matched close enough and after swapping boards the drive now starts to spin for a few minutes but then stops like it cant read itself properly. The computer still does not see it, Ive matched the boards the best I could with the following numbers below and had someone swap the rom chip on the board from the orginal PCB to the new PCB.
So after that I was inclinded to believe the spindle motor was worn to a point that its not gaining enough momentum or there was some other mechanical issue. But I actually found someone that checked it for me for free in a clean room and they said the motor is free and fine and the heads are fine. So my question(s) is this. Is there a chance its a problem/issue with the new PCB or perhaps a BSY problem? Is there some way I can do a diagnostic on it perhaps through a usb>ttl cable?
Sorry for the long post,Again I am new so bare with me but I would appreciate anyones advice they have to offer. Thanks in advance.

1) It's not .11 . Forget 'internet fix'
2) You won't measure (correctly) motor driving with a multimeter
3) The problem is elsewhere but you need proper diagnose. It was not necessary to open it and it won't be reliable for use anymore.

Thanks for the replies. So the usb to terminal, is that hooked up that same way on the RX/TX besides the baud rate?

Is the data important to you?

Why didn't they recover your data for you?

Free and Cleanroom in the same sentence boggles my mind. If they have professional tools and a clean room - why wouldnt you have them just perform the repair for you.
Did they tell you that it's likely another company will charge you MORE since they have to put extra time into trying to troubleshoot someone elses work/mistakes/errors?

I wish you the best with the recovery but it's unlikely that its just a firmware issue. Something doesnt sound right with the diagnosis.
