Hi Gentleman and Gentle Ladies

I have come across HDDGURU and noticed that this is the place to ask for assistance.

I have a Buffalo Ministation HD-PC1TU2/BB-EU which recently crashed for all I know. It has got some work related files, irreplaceable photos etc on it. I need to know if I can still save the data on the hdd.

Something strange happened in Windows 7 Disk management and for some reason while I was resizing a partition, internal laptop hdd, it messed up my external hdd (I know I know, I should have taken it out before going on with the partition resizing  ). After that the ministation hdd was recognisable only as a RAW drive. I then quickly looked for software to buy etc and came upon Icare and then later (too late) found spinrite 6. Icare saw the drive and was ready to save all the files. As I was saving the files I noticed that I chose the wrong data recovery option on it (Advanced recovery instead of deep recovery for RAW drives), so I cancelled (which was mistake number 2!! :x ). I did not think that after stopping it you will not be able to see the HDD at all, even with Spinrite, because Icare did see it prior.

So this is my problem. Windows does not see the drive, Disk manager does not see the drive, Spinrite does not see the drive, Icare does not see the drive and even other laptops do not see the drive. When you plug it in you can hear that it is running but there is absolutely nothing that you can see.

I believe the data should still be there because I did not format anything. At this point in time I can't afford a professional data recovery service which would have been my next option.

Your help and assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Regards
