 Post subject: HDD from raid enviorment be removed for emergency data

Can a single hdd be temporarily removed from a raid environment for a emergency backup or data recovery ( as slave or USB adapter ) then replaced ?

All of the data files is what I would like to keep. Is it readable not being in the raid environment ?
