Does anyone know if the button on the back of one of these things zeros and repartitions it. x raid

Imaged both 2 x 500GB, (head 3 is funky on the second one, thats what would have killed it initially)

Some hex on it but very little

Was advised that the reset button was pressed, Im wondering if it does a wipe, that would explain it.

Tried to put the raid back together but all im getting is 1TB (correct volume size) but unused space

anyone know before I waste anymore time trying to find anything, only reason Im still on it is because the client said its not much data thats on it , he said a few hundered mb

thanks

andy

Hi
This is from ReadyNas manual:

''To set the ReadyNAS Duo device to Factory Default: Use the same process, except you
must hold the System Reset switch for 30 seconds after powering on the system. You will see
the disk LEDs flash for a second time to signify that the command has been accepted.
Warning: This process reinstalls the firmware and resets all disk configurations,
wiping out any data you might have on the NAS.''

If this is the case I guess the data is gone...
Rgds

Seems like this might just have the same effect as a format... maybe some amount of data would be recoverable, even if just in RAW format.

Surprisingly poor design choice to have an "erase everything" button on the outside of your NAS :(
