I removed the hard drive from its enclosure after its failure to connect via usb. It lasted a couple months as an internal Sata drive. Recently it doesn't get detected, it doesn't spin and the hard drive makes no noise. Silent Death. I was told I could replace the logic board but I was under the impression there was tight specifications regarding the replacement. Am I better off spending 600 to get my precious information back? Believe me I don't wanna cough up 600 but i don't wanna be a rookie diy douche and screw my hard drive up. Id appreciate any help, Thanks.

PCB replace of this model is useless.
Additionally, depending on the model, the USB case can have crypto chip wich decodes the sectors for you.
So this can be more complicated.....
If your data is important, i suggest to seek for help...

I agree, most of the WD10EADS drives comes inside the WD Essentials and they are encrypted
changing usb case is useless

You will definitely need the assistance of a data recovery pro with the necessary tools to properly diagnose and recover the data. There is a good chance that this is a PCB issue, but equally a good chance that there could be head issues as well...both are very common with Western Digital drives these days.

Get it assessed by a data recovery pro and then decide on whether it is worth paying for recovery or scrapping the drive.

check for corrosion on the connectors belonging the the HDA Assembly can you scan both sides of the PCB board & post a picture.

Sure I'll post a picture. Which is the best data recovery company to go to? Also what brand of hard drive should I get in the future to prevent this nightmare from reocurring?
