Came out of a Dell Inspiron laptop that kept posting an error on boot. I think the motherboard died. When I yanked the drive to copy the data, I found it wouldn't power up. Hoping replacing the pcb will allow me to recover the data. PDF of current PCB is attached. Thanks.

Dima- Didn't realize there was a fuse. Thanks for the heads-up.

I've posted a marked up picture. Is that the fuse outlined in red?

Where would I purchase one? I live in the US--New York.

Thanks.

Eric,
I want to check the fuse before I order a new PCB. I definitely let you know either way.

That isn't the sort of thing you find in any shop you can walk into. Your best bet is digikey or mouser for surface mount parts.

However, as this is just a fuse, for the purposes of recovery I would just bypass it with a small wire. Of course, be sure you are bypassing the right part, shorting something else than the fuse could make the situation worse.

So... just to update. I'm going to try and jump the fuse with a wire and see if the drive spins up. First I have to buy a strong magnifying glass. :-)

Thanks for everyone's help. I will keep you posted.
