Bad news : most probably the problem is firmware or heads related (according to the symptom) - can also be something else but in my experience it is NOT a DIY case as you need dedicated equipment even only to perform diagnose.
DIY can be destructive, so seek professional help as far as data seems really important. If the problem can be solved without opening the drive it shouldn't be an economical disaster , but only proper diagnose can say what's happening.

P.S. DON'T attempt to open the drive FOR NO REASON.

Hi
Some additional infos. I use this hdd with Usb case JH9317 Model #47562 by Verbatim. No problems during ca year. But one day I try connect this case to IBM A31 (old type of low power usb 1.0) using only single bad quality cable. In this moment my problems starts. No any mechanical damages, throws, I use this HDD very carefully. What kind of failure i have ? broken outside PCB, or damaged preamp inside the plates case? After connecting motor starts normally for 30-45 secs, heads try to initialise 3-5 times, but without result and the power goes down. Maybe another PCB and change the rom (bios) could resolve my problem?

Kind regards

PLEASE LISTEN :
WD drives are known to develop this kind of problem anytime anywhere sometimes without giving any notice. 9 out of 10 heads - probably one - are not working properly or there is another problem that require expensive equipment (thousands $ or €) to diagnose , and head replacement is problematic due to the peculiarities of these drives. I know that it is not good to hear (if you really want we can say that on the internet it is full of videos where it is made simple ) but there's nothing you can do. The chances it is the pcb are 1 out of 100 so 99 out of 100 you are wasting time and money in parts and labor. Ok?
