hi to everyone. I've got a dead wd hdd because of overvoltage (20volt) and one good working wd. I want to ask if a could use the PCB of the working one to the dead one. the dead hdd has the number 2060-701537-004 and the other has 2060-701537-003. Both of them are 500gb western digital. Could i change the PCB boards so as to take my data or it is possible to damage the working board or even the disk?

Hi, your pcb should be ok, but you need to transfer the adaptive modules in the ROM from your dead pcb to your donor pcb.
Do a search here in the forum, it will give you all you need.

Excuse me because i'm newbie to technical part of hdds. You mean that I have to solder the Rom chip of the working PCB to the dead one? Can anyone give me a link of how to do it? If i buy the same PCB (2060-701537-004) from eBay and plug it to the disk will it work or I should do and something else? Thank you for your help.

Hi, you need to read out the adaptive information from your old Pcb and reprogram your new one with that info.
Or desolder the U12 chip (if there is any on your Pcb), and put it on the donor Pcb.

If I remember correctly 2060-701537-004 doesn't have U12, adaptives masked in MCU.
